Palin: I'm thankful the Constitution would allow a bit more authority given to the vice president if that vice president so chose to exert it in working with the Senate and making sure that we are supportive of the president's policies and making sure too that our president understands what our strengths are.

Ben Smiths Blog: Sutton family retracts Obama story - Politico.com

A smear being used by conservative bloggers was blown out of the water a month ago, and yet they repeat it. Bookmark this. From the page: "The information Mr. Percy Sutton imparted on March 25 in a NY1 News interview regarding his connection to Barack Obama is inaccurate. As best as our family and the Chairman's closest friends can tell, Mr. Sutton, now 86 years of age, misspoke in describing certain details and events in that television interview. We regret this unfortunate incident and we ask good conscientious people to extend compassion and grace to Percy Sutton, a man who has served America in many capacities; an officer with the Tuskegee Airmen in World War II and as a public servant who was the first elected African-American Manhattan Borough President."

"It was never a concern by any of us in the Chicago school reform movement that he had led a fugitive life years earlier," said former Illinois state Republican Rep. Diana Nelson, who worked with both Obama and Ayers over the years. "It's ridiculous. There is no reason at all to smear Barack Obama with this association. It's nonsensical, and it just makes me crazy. It's so silly."

Putting the state on the take is no way to regulate gambling | TheNewsTribune...

In local politics, challenger Dino Rossi is criticizing Governor Chris Gregoire for not taking a state cut of Indian casino profits. Why would a conservative recommend making state programs dependent on a cut of gambling income? Making the state subject to pressure to make casino gambling even easier and more attractive? Maybe it's because the Republican Governors Association, which finances these ads, gets big donations from non-Indian gaming interests that see a benefit in tribal casinos losing some money -- and long-term gain in getting the state into the promotion of gambling.
