- Putting the state on the take is no way to regulate gambling | TheNewsTribune...
Oct 5, 3:45am (1 review) politics, washington-state http://www.thenewstribune.com/opinion/st...- In local politics, challenger Dino Rossi is criticizing Governor Chris Gregoire for not taking a state cut of Indian casino profits. Why would a conservative recommend making state programs dependent on a cut of gambling income? Making the state subject to pressure to make casino gambling even easier and more attractive? Maybe it's because the Republican Governors Association, which finances these ads, gets big donations from non-Indian gaming interests that see a benefit in tribal casinos losing some money -- and long-term gain in getting the state into the promotion of gambling.

There is descriptive material or actual text in the public domain for only about a third. In other words, there are dozens of undisclosed Presidential directives that define U.S. national security policy and task government agencies, but whose substance is unknown either to the public or, as a rule, to Congress."

Oct 5, 12:53am (7 reviews) economics, liberties-rights http://www.pawtuckettimes.com/content/vi...- All good ideas -- now, HOW?
I agree it's time to take back our country from the corporations. The Great Bailout Disaster just proved that money talks louder than voters do. What do we do next?
Stop feeding the corporations. Buy from farmer's markets and small local businesses; barter with your friends and neighbors. Pull your money out of the bank and put it in a credit union. Organize a local co-op.
And refuse to be evicted.
Any other ideas?
